End: 4:00 pm

As part of a year-round commitment to recycling and the protection of the environment, NextStep Recycling will join with Best Buy and Wal-Mart to celebrate Earth Day this year by putting on two electronics recycling events—one at each store. Selco Credit Union has donated $250.00 to help support the event.    PASS IT ON! On April 22nd , Best Buy, WalMart, and NextStep Recycling will work together to help Lane County residents easily and properly dispose of household electronics, stereos, VCRs, televisions, DVD players, handheld games, cell phones, and computers, including computer hardware, monitors, cables, calculators and printers. If it plugs in or runs on batteries, we’ll take it! NextStep Recycling is reducing its recycling fees for this one-day event. Here’s how you can take advantage of these great opportunities:

The one-day electronics recycling extravaganzas will take place at:
1. Best Buy - 3300 Gateway St., Springfield, OR. The event will take place in the parking lot, on the south side of the main entrance. 12 PM - 4 PM, Sunday April 22nd, 2007.
2. Wal-Mart - 1040 Greenacres Rd., Eugene, OR. The event will take place in the parking lot, next to the garden department. 12 PM - 4 PM April 22nd, 2007.

RECYCLING FEES:
ALL ITEMS ARE FREE, WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:
25 % of the weight of all monitors/TVs is lead. Lead is also found in UPS batteries. This requires NextStep to handle monitors/TVs/UPS batteries as a hazardous waste.

$5.00 per UPS battery backup unit (uninterruptible power supply)
$7.00 per computer monitor
$1.00 per diagonal screen inch charge for TV's
$40.00 and up for console TVs

NextStep Recycling will accept cash or checks.

Lane County and surrounding area residents are urged to take advantage of these great opportunities to clean up their homes and properly recycle their old computers and other obsolete electronics. Items with reuse potential will be tested and cleaned (data eradicated from hard drives) before being donated to those who do not have access to technology. Our volunteers will recycle damaged and obsolete equipment at our facility.
